HARVEY MILK LGBT DEMOCRATIC CLUB TO CELEBRATE MILK'S LIFE AND 30 YEARS OF ACTIVISM

To celebrate Harvey Milk’s life and his legacy of “30 Years of Progressive Queer Activism.”

In commemoration of the assassination of Supervisor Harvey Milk 30 years ago, the Harvey Milk Lesbian, Gay Bisexual and Transgender Democratic Club will dedicate their annual dinner in a celebration of Harvey’s life and legacy through “30 Years of Progressive Queer Activism.”

Special Guests will be Director Gus Van Sant, director and Lance Black, writer of “MILK” a soon to be released film with Sean Penn in the role of Harvey. (cf attached foto of Penn as Milk)

“Milk” was filmed in San Francisco and many extras were participants in Harvey’s election and in the events following his murder including the White Night RIOT following killer Dan White’s. Several of Harvey Milk’s friends will be in attendance at the dinner including Harvey’s aide, Anne Kronenberg and Harvey’s successor to the Board of Supervisors-Harry Britt.

Special Honorees will include:
1. Tom Ammiano-“Mr Ammiano Goes to Sacramento.” Expected to take his seat in the California Assembly next year, Tom Ammiano embodies all that Harvey and the Milk Club have fought for these past 30 years.
2. San Francisco City Attorney Dennis Herrera for his role in the historic victory for marriage equality in California’s Courts.
3. The Rt. Reverend Marc Handley Andrus, Bishop of the Episcopal Diocese of California for his “Faith in Action” in supporting the rights of Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Transgender people.
Other honorees will include AIDS activists, anti-war activists, housing activists and many others including
Shannon Minter of NCLR- a long time fighter for the rights of transgender people.
P.O.W.E.R. -a multi-cultural organization of low-income people fighting for their economic and social rights

Other honorees will represent the Milk Clubs decades of fighting not only for queer rights but also for tenants’ rights, anti-racism, AIDS activism, workers’ rights,
Environmental protection, rights of the homeless, compassionate cannabis use and countless other issues at the core of progressive values.


All honorees will be in attendance at the dinner.
