Vote on Judge Davis Highlights Slow Movement of Judicial Nominees

Alliance for Justice Releases Report: “Justice Can’t Wait”

November 10, 2009, Washington, DC—The Senate is expected to vote this evening to confirm Judge Andre Davis to the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit.

But a report on judicial selection in the first 10 months of the Obama administration by Alliance for Justice documents the extremely slow pace of the Senate's action to confirm nominees to fill the many vacancies on the federal courts.

The report, "Justice Can't Wait," is available online at: http://www.afj.org/check-the-facts/nominees/alliance-for-justice-report-justice-can-t-wait-the-first-ten-months-of-the-obama-administration.pdf.

"Republicans are playing politics to stir up their base while federal judgeships remain vacant," said Nan Aron, president, Alliance for Justice. "America needs strong voices on our federal courts, upholding the Constitution and the law to ensure equal justice for all, not partisan games that delay putting highly qualified nominees on the bench."

Reports on the records of nominees to the circuit courts are also available at:
